Careful cross-checking has made it possible to collect and highlight, in the Appendices section, those passages that, during his editing of the text’s numerous versions, de Chirico decided to eliminate or modify in a more or less radical manner, amongst which, the two initial fragments of the Dudron Manuscript and the Dudron-Levy Manuscript are particularly important.
Where possible, the numerical sequence of the texts respects the chronological sequence of writing and publication: a compulsory step that highlights with absolute clarity the aporias and contradictions of a novel that has never been finished.
